Jorge Garcia, Head Band Director at Trautmann Middle School, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the field of music education.
Growing up, Mr. Garcia was surrounded by educators and in high school, he was greatly inspired by his band director. After receiving a scholarship, he decided to pursue his passion and studied music education at Texas A&M University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in 1998 and a Master of Arts in music in 2000. From 2004 to 2005, Mr. Garcia taught at United High School before taking on his current position with the United Independent School District, where he works as the head band director of Trautmann Middle School. He enjoys teaching middle school because it gives him the opportunity to set the foundation for his students’ high school education.
Outside of his immediate professional responsibilities, Mr. Garcia is an active volunteer for both Feeding Veterans and the Ronald McDonald House. He maintains affiliations with the Texas Music Educators Association and the Texas Music Adjudicators Association. As part of an issue close to his heart, Mr. Garcia is a part of a charitable endeavor for making people more aware of congenital heart disease, which both he and his youngest son were affected with. Notably, he has been nominated for Teacher of the Year, Teacher of the Month and the Golden Apple Award. Looking ahead, Mr. Garcia aspires to become the finance director for the United Independent School District.
