Rebecca Bull, Music Educator at Cumberland County School District, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in music education.

As a young woman, Ms. Bull faced a tumultuous home life, living in an area with a large drug problem and losing her younger brother to an overdose. Her passion for music developed into a major outlet, and without it, she may have dropped out. This deeply personal knowledge of the power of music as a force for good in children’s lives led her to pursue a career as a music educator, and in 1987, she graduated from Towson State University with a Bachelor of Arts in music education. Ms. Bull started as a strings teacher at Western Maryland College in 1986, and took on an additional role at the Hereford Zone Music Program in 1988. In addition, she became the director of the Westminster Youth Orchestra in 1988, working these positions until she earned a Master of Education from Towson State University in 1993.

Upon earning her graduate degree, Ms. Bull transitioned to a role as a music teacher for Cumberland County School District, where she continues to work to this day.  Since 1996, she has also worked as the director of the Children of Crossville Chamber Orchestra. In addition to her professional pursuits, she has maintained memberships to a variety of organizations throughout her career, including the National Education Association, the Nashville Songwriters Association, the American String Teachers Association, and the National Association of Music Educators, among others. She received the Butterfly Award from Music in Motion in 1997, was named Teacher of the Year at Crossville Elementary School in 1998, and was named Woman of the Year by the Business and Professional Women’s Association in 2000. As a further testament to her success as a music educator, she was included in the 22nd, 23rd, and 27th editions of Who’s Who of American Women, and the 60th edition of Who’s Who in America.
