Patricia Raynor, Special Education Educator for K-12, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements and leadership.

For more than four decades, Ms. Raynor has exemplified the skills and qualities attributed only to the most devoted of educators. Equipped with patience and a continuous desire to learn, she knew she wanted to be a teacher at just eight years old and carried on in her endeavors to achieve her goal. In her own academic pursuits, she earned an Associate of Arts from San Diego Mesa Community College. Staying true to her feelings on the importance of education, she later received an AB from San Diego State University in 1984 while working full-time and an MSEd from Northwest Missouri State University in 1989. She is a certified K-8 teacher and K-12 special education teacher in the state of Iowa.

Early in Ms. Raynor’s career, she worked as a legal secretary for John Kosman & John Greene, and for Smith, Biggins, Bollman & Mogilner. From 1976 to 1983, she served as an administrative secretary for Centre City Hospital in San Diego and then as a secretary and transcriptionist with the Waubonsie Mental Health Center & Farmer Assistance Project. In 1988, she became a special education teacher with the Bedford Community School District, remaining at this institution until 1993. That same year, she joined the faculty of Essex Community School District, where she has remained since.

A highlight of Ms. Raynor’s career has been helping parents become equal partners in their children’s education, thereby helping these students achieve success inside and Raynor, Patricia 4311866_27620996 TP dogoutside of the classroom. In addition to teaching at these schools, Ms. Raynor has taught Sunday school and summer programs. Furthermore, she is an avid dog trainer and her own championship-winning dog has earned eight titles in agility competitions.  Throughout her career, she maintained professional affiliation with the National Education Association, the Iowa Education Association, the American Association of University Women, the Essex Education Association, the Bedford Community Education Association and the Council for Exceptional Children.
