Sheri Neidlinger, Music Educator, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in music education.
Ms. Neidlinger fell in love with music as it allowed her to form friendships easily while moving around a lot. In high school, she explored music in band class, developing her piano, chorus and orchestra skills. She continued her education at the University of Tennessee, earning a Bachelor of Science in music education in 1980, a MusM in choral conducting in 1981. She later earned an EdS in music education from Georgia Southern University in 1996. Since 2015, she taught as an adjunct instructor at Western Carolina University. She has previously taught at Haywood Community College, Georgia College and State University, Baldwin County Schools, Morgan County Schools, Newberry County Schools, Savannah-Chatham County Schools, Armstrong Atlantic State University, the Atlanta Speech School, Cobb County Schools, Griffin-Spalding County Schools and Allendale County Schools.
Throughout the duration of her career, Ms. Neidlinger is most proud of her involvement with helping to form the Savannah Art Academy. She also served as the academy’s department chair and developed a curriculum that is still in use today. She also was an education specialist and conducted a research study through Georgia Southern University called “The relationship between participation in music courses and selected achievement measures” in 1996. In 1999, Ms. Neidlinger was honored with the Excellence in Teaching award from the Savannah News Press and Carolina Morning News. She has also received an Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. In her career, she has maintained professional affiliation with such organizations as the North Carolina Music Educators Association, the Professional Association of Georgia Educators, the American Choral Directors Association and the Georgia Music Educators Association.
